We're seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the Thames Valley. This role plays a crucial role within Capital Delivery, supporting the assurance that our contractors and consultants meet our high standards for design, delivery, and health and safety.

What you’ll be doing as a Mechanical Engineer
  • Ensuring that Contractors and Consultants delivering Capital projects for Thames Water comply with our Scope requirements, Asset standards, Legislation, and expectations for design, following our delivery process model ensuring compliance with CDM Regs, along with Health, Safety, and Welfare.
  • Working under the direction of a Principal Engineer, the role is part of the intelligent client model Thames Water needs to be able to achieve its capital investment ambitions in AMP7 and beyond. Focusing on mechanical systems and equipment, the role will provide the expertise needed to:
    • Develop multiple projects to meet defined needs with best-value solutions at various Water and Wastewater Treatment Works and pumping stations within the Thames Valley and Home Counties.
    • Understand and mitigate project risks to reduce Programme and Project delivery Costs.
    • Support design sign-off between the Asset Management and Capital Delivery departments as the selected Delivery Stream dictates.
    • Provide Technical Assurance for projects during the Delivery, Commissioning, and handover of Assets.
What you should bring to the role of a Mechanical Engineer 
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an Engineering HNC or above.
  • Knowledge in developing technical project solutions and/or Briefs, especially mechanical scope.
  • Understanding of project delivery in process industries.
  • Understanding of H&S in the Construction industry, particularly CDM.
  • Understanding of mechanical processes and equipment especially pumps and pipework.
  • Hybrid – Clearwater Court, Reading, you will be expected to go on-site and work in the office 1-2 days a week.

  • Competitive salary from £40,000 to £55,000 per annum.
