Job Description

Do you enjoy working in a team, driving high Health and Safety standards that make you proud, driving performance of not only yourself but also your team, communicating with others at all levels, but most of all love working in an environment where every day is different, and offers you unknown challenges that puts our service as one of the key essentials to us all. Then we could have the job for you.

With the rapidly changing environment and all the complexities this brings, working as an Operations Performance Manager will provide you with a wealth of different activities to sink your teeth into.

We have a great opportunity for a role working at one of the largest treatment works in Oxfordshire where you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Oxford Wastewater Treatment plant, where you will overlook the running of the Thermal Hydrolysis Plant (THP), the Sewage Treatment plant and the surrounding Terminal Pumping stations, the liaison into the future capital project upgrade and the managing of a team.

With the impact of our operations on the environment being at the forefront of everything we do, you will be tasked to drive improvements in the operations of your sites and the assets within them, looking at ways to change what we do for the better of all parties, mainly our customers and of course THE ENVIRONMENT.

To achieve your goals, you will need to inspire and motivate your team whilst also being able to empathise and understand each person in your team helping us build a strong team environment.

You will operate out of the main site at Oxford but will visit other sites making a driving licence and car owner essential as you will need to travel throughout your working week. You will work 36 hours a week Monday to Friday, along with participating in an out-of-hours rota for escalations and advice as we are a 24-hour business.
If this is you, we are looking for someone to join our Thames Valley North Operations Team in Wastewater which offers a brilliant opportunity for you to establish a career with Thames Water in frontline operations.

What you’ll be doing as the Performance Manager?
  • Health and Safety – This is our number 1 priority for everyone in our team and you will effectively lead the Health & Safety culture of the team as well as driving and creating an environment where good practices are a way of everyday life and total compliance is adhered to.
  • Process Management – We need to protect our environment and we are looking for someone who can effectively performance management our Sewage Treatment Works site compliance by ensuring the site achieves and maintains its required plant availability and reliability to meet quality targets that are set by our regulator.

  • Financial Management – owning and managing the budgetary and financial activities of the team and driving efficiencies into the overall operational budget.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Management - ensuring exceptional service to our customers with early personal interventions as required.
As you will be able to see from the above, there are plenty of things to help you feel fulfilled at work and the sense that you have achieved something.

Base Location: Oxford STW - OX4 4XU
