Job Title: Warehouse Operative
Location: Crawley, West Sussex
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Temporary
Hours: Shift-based, including early, late, or weekend shifts where required

Overview
A Warehouse Operative is responsible for supporting the day-to-day running of the warehouse by receiving, storing, picking, packing and dispatching goods accurately and safely. The role typically involves manual handling, stock control, use of handheld scanners or basic warehouse systems, and maintaining a clean and organised working environment.
Key responsibilities
- Receiving deliveries and checking goods against delivery notes or paperwork.
- Inspecting items for damage, shortages or discrepancies and reporting issues promptly.
- Picking, packing and wrapping customer orders accurately and within deadlines.
- Loading and unloading vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Moving stock to the correct warehouse locations, by hand or using appropriate equipment where trained to do so.
- Carrying out stock counts and helping maintain accurate inventory records.
- Using handheld scanners, computers or warehouse management systems for basic stock and order processing.
- Keeping the warehouse clean, tidy and safe at all times.
- Following all health and safety, manual handling, and company procedures.
- Working as part of a team to meet daily productivity and service targets.
Skills and experience
- Previous warehouse experience is helpful but not always essential, as some employers provide on-the-job training.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Basic IT skills, including using handheld devices or simple computer systems.
- Physically fit and comfortable with lifting, standing, bending and manual tasks during a shift.
- Flexible and reliable approach to work.
Desirable
- Experience with picking, packing, goods-in, dispatch or stock control.
- Forklift or MHE experience/licence, where relevant to the site.
- Understanding of warehouse health and safety procedures.
The ideal candidate will have good attention to detail, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. Previous warehouse experience is beneficial but not essential, as training can be provided
