Job Description

Our client is a successful and rapidly growing business operating within the renewable energy sector. Due to continued expansion, they are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their team.

Please note, this is a fully office-based role, working from the company's offices in Caterham. There is no hybrid working available.

The Role

Working as part of the finance function and liaising with senior management and the external accountancy practice, you will support the day-to-day running of the accounts department. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, carrying out reconciliations, and assisting with month-end activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Processing purchase and sales invoices accurately and efficiently
    • Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
    • Completing historic reconciliations and resolving outstanding discrepancies
    • Processing and reconciling high volumes of transactions across multiple payment platforms
    • Managing reconciliations for online payment providers including PayPal, Klarna, Stripe and similar platforms
    • Allocating incoming payments and assisting with credit control activities where required
    • Supporting the preparation of accounts to trial balance for the external accountants
    • Assisting with month-end and year-end finance processes
    • Producing financial reports and sales summaries as required
    • Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring data integrity within Xero
    • Supporting the wider finance function with ad hoc accounts administration

The Person
  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role is essential
    • Strong working knowledge of Xero is essential
    • Experience processing purchase and sales invoices
    • Proven experience carrying out bank reconciliations and historic reconciliations
    • Comfortable processing high volumes of financial transactions with excellent accuracy
    • Experience with online payment platforms such as PayPal, Klarna, Stripe or similar would be advantageous
    • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational skills
    • A proactive and methodical approach to problem-solving
    • Ability to work independently whilst managing multiple priorities

The Package

  • £28,000 - £35,000pa DOE
    • 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays
    • 35-hour working week, Monday to Friday
    • Flexible working hours between 8:00am and 6:00pm
