Job Description
As a Field Enabler, you’ll be part of Water Networks and will be key to ensuring that all repair jobs requiring a highway authority permit are appropriately surveyed. You will recommend the street work site set-up to allow the repair to be planned correctly. You will take into consideration that those doing the work and the public remain safe at all times from initial site set-up through to repair/backfill and reinstatement.

What you’ll be doing as an ICA Project Engineer
- Taking ownership with the coordination of all planned and reactive jobs, ensuring all the prerequisite checks are compliant with Highways Street Work legislation, Health & Safety, including our obligations under the CDM Regulations, and within service level agreements.
- Act as the primary liaison between Thames Water and key external stakeholders, for example, councils, Highway Authorities, or other utilities, to agree and enable any site access and/or considerations that are required to facilitate the repair.
- Work collaboratively with Repair and Maintenance Supervisors, to reduce aborted work and remove any blockers that will prevent the job from being completed ‘right first time’.
- Provide feedback and coaching to relevant internal stakeholders to identify areas of improvement and contribute to implementing the change.
- Core working hours will be Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week. Flexibility during peak demand or a high priority incident will be essential, and overtime payments will apply for evening and weekend working.
- A Van, PPE and Tools will be provided.

What you should bring to the role
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
- Have a Zero Compromise approach to H&S

- Have excellent time management
- A full UK driving licence is essential as travelling will be required
- Be Streetworks qualified (NRSWA minimum of units 2 and 10)
- Hold a current EUSR water hygiene card
- Additional street work qualifications, e.g., LANTRA M6/7 etc., would be considered advantageous
- Be able to produce accurate sketches for the purposes of CAD drawings
- Review CAD drawing for submitting to Highway Authorities
- Knowledge of road types and reinstatement would be advantageous
- Experience working within the utilities sector is desirable
