Senior Social Worker – Family Help
Felixstowe, Suffolk
£44.61 per hour
Full-time – 37 hours per week
Hybrid working – 3 days in the office, normally Tuesday–Thursday, with 2 days working from home by agreement
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Felixstowe Family Help Team within Suffolk Children and Young People’s Services.
The team works with children and families where there are safeguarding concerns, undertaking Section 17 Family Help assessments and Section 47 investigations, as well as managing Child in Need, Child Protection and Child in Care plans.

The team works with children and families where there are safeguarding concerns, undertaking Section 17 Family Help assessments and Section 47 investigations, as well as managing Child in Need, Child Protection and Child in Care plans.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage a varied caseload including S17, S47, CIN, CP and CIC cases
- Undertake safeguarding assessments and investigations
- Develop and review care and protection plans
- Complete PLO planning and court work
- Prepare Section 7 and Section 37 reports
- Undertake public and private law proceedings
- Complete Parenting Capacity, Pre-Birth and Risk Assessments
- Work with children in care until transfer to the CIC or Leaving Care Teams
- Work collaboratively with children, families and partner agencies
- Promote positive outcomes and safeguard children and young people
- Social Work England registration
- Significant Children’s Social Work experience
- Strong safeguarding and child protection experience
- Experience of Section 17 and Section 47 work
- Experience of court work and care proceedings
- Ability to manage a complex caseload independently
