Job Description

Teaching Assistant required to provide 1-2-1 and whole class support. This welcoming special school is looking to add an engaging and empathetic Teaching Assistant to the team to provide ongoing support for secondary aged students with a range of special educational needs including ASC, MLD, Down’s Syndrome, Communication Impairments, and physical disabilities.   

As a Teaching Assistant at this school, you will be working closely with an experienced team of Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, and class teachers to ensure that every child receives the care and support they require. You will be responsible for providing classroom support, helping children to engage, and managing classroom behaviours.

This role requires a Teaching Assistant who has previously worked with SEND needs and ideally holds a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

Job Role:
  • Providing 1-2-1 support for secondary aged students with SEND
    • Supporting whole class learning alongside the class teacher
    • Assisting students with ASC and moderate learning needs
    • Helping students remain engaged and focused during lessons
    • Supporting communication, social skills and independence
    • Working closely with teachers and other Teaching Assistants
    • Promoting positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment
    • Monitoring and reporting on student progress and wellbeing
