Job Description

Teaching Assistant – SEMH School
Are you a patient and resilient Teaching Assistant looking to support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you want to work in a school where you can make a genuine difference to pupils who require additional support to succeed? This school in Solihull is looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students in a structured and supportive environment.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils with SEMH needs both in and out of the classroom. You will provide 1-2-1 and small group support, helping students manage their behaviour, stay engaged with learning and develop positive relationships. This is a rewarding role where consistency, patience and strong communication skills are key.

Job Role:
  • Providing 1-2-1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
    • Supporting students to manage behaviour and remain engaged in lessons
    • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
    • Supporting emotional regulation and personal development
    • Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff
    • Assisting with behaviour management strategies
    • Monitoring and reporting on pupil progress and wellbeing
    • Contributing to a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
