Job Description

SEN Teacher – Special Educational Needs
Location: Reading, Berkshire
Salary: £32,916 (M1) – £51,048 (U3) + SEN 1 Allowance
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time / Maternity Cover
Start Date: ASAP or September
We are working closely with a well-established and highly regarded specialist school to recruit a qualified SEN Teacher. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive, inclusive setting dedicated to helping pupils achieve meaningful outcomes both academically and personally.
The school supports children and young people with a range of complex special educational needs, offering a structured, nurturing, and child-centred learning environment.
The Role
  • Teaching pupils with a range of needs including ASD, MLD, SLD, and PMLD
    • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual abilities
    • Supporting pupils’ communication, independence, and emotional regulation
    • Working closely with support staff, therapists, and senior leaders
    • Implementing EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
    • Creating a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
    • Experience working with pupils with SEND, ideally within a special school or SEN setting
    • Strong understanding of differentiation and adaptive teaching strategies
    • Patient, resilient, and reflective teaching approach
    • Strong communication and teamwork skills
    • ECTs with a strong interest in SEN are welcome to apply
