Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant Location: Lambeth
Start Date: ASAP or September
Contract: Full‑time, Term‑time
Salary: £545 PER WEEK 
About the School A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth with a specialist Autism Resource Base, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The setting promotes a nurturing, structured environment and works closely with SEN professionals to support communication, emotional regulation and independence.
The Role This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to gain hands‑on experience supporting pupils with Autism across specialist provision and mainstream classrooms.
Key responsibilities:
  • Supporting pupils with Autism on a 1:1 and small‑group basis
    • Assisting with personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies
    • Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
    • Helping pupils access learning in a structured and nurturing way
    • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and therapists
    • Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement
Ideal Candidate This role is particularly suited to graduates or aspiring professionals looking to build experience in SEN, including those considering careers in:
  • Teaching (Primary or SEN)
    • Educational Psychology
    • Speech and Language Therapy
    • Occupational Therapy
    • Child or Clinical Psychology
You do not need previous school‑based SEN experience, but you should demonstrate:
  • A strong interest in Autism and inclusive education
    • Patience, empathy and resilience
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    • A proactive and reflective approach
    • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Graduates in Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies, SEN or related fields are strongly encouraged to apply.
