Location: Reading, UK
Working Arrangement: Fully remote
Salary: £46,000 to £55,000 depending on experience
The Opportunity
A growing engineering consultancy is looking for an Intermediate Fire Engineer to join its expanding fire engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Fire Engineer to work across a diverse range of projects, develop their technical expertise and progress towards a Senior Engineer position.
Projects span retail, commercial, residential, data centres and council housing, providing a varied and interesting workload.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop fire engineering strategies in accordance with BS 9999, BS 9991, BS 7974 and Approved Document B.
- Carry out fire risk assessments and provide technical fire safety advice.
- Design and assess active fire protection systems, including sprinklers, water mist and gaseous suppression.
- Assist with CFD modelling and fire simulations where required.
- Undertake fire systems design using BIM software such as Revit.
- Prepare technical reports, fire safety statements and evacuation strategies.
- Liaise with clients, architects and regulatory authorities.
- Attend site surveys and inspections where required.
- Support project delivery and contribute to the development of junior engineers.
About You
You will ideally have 2 to 5 years' experience within fire engineering consultancy or a related discipline, together with:
- A relevant degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related subject.
- Practical experience of UK fire safety regulations and standards.
- A solid understanding of fire engineering principles and evidence of applying these to projects.
- Experience with fire suppression systems would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Revit, AutoSprink, PyroSim, FDS or CFAST would be beneficial, although training can be provided.
- Strong communication and report writing skills.
- The ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively to a wider team.
