Job Description

Job Title: Complex Care Support Worker (2:1 Package)
Location: Surrey (KT area)
Hours: Approx. 84 hours per week (shift-based, 2:1 support)
Reporting to: Clinical Lead / Care Coordinator

Role Overview We are seeking experienced Complex Care Support Workers to support an individual with high-dependency physical health needs living in the community following hospital discharge.
This is a 2:1 package of care requiring consistent, skilled staff to support all aspects of daily living, while safely managing clinical risks and promoting independence and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide full support with personal care, including washing, dressing, and hygiene
    • Assist with meal preparation and nutritional support
    • Support safe repositioning and pressure relief
    • Undertake hoist transfers in line with moving and handling plans
    • Administer medication in accordance with training and care plans
    • Carry out catheter care (including night drainage management)
    • Deliver bowel care interventions (following competency sign-off)
    • Monitor observations (including blood pressure where required)
    • Support prescribed physiotherapy exercises
    • Apply and remove splints as required
    • Maintain accurate records and report any concerns promptly
Clinical Skills & Experience Required Essential:
  • Experience supporting individuals with complex physical health needs
    • Experience working in 2:1 care settings
    • Medication administration training
    • Catheter care experience
    • Bowel care competency (or willingness to be trained)
    • Moving and handling (including hoist use)
    • Pressure area care and skin integrity awareness
Desirable:
  • Experience supporting individuals with spinal cord injuries
    • Understanding of Autonomic Dysreflexia
    • Experience with respiratory support or cough assist devices
Risk Awareness Staff must be able to recognise and respond appropriately to:
  • Changes in physical condition
    • Risks associated with reduced mobility
    • Signs of infection or deterioration
    • Emergency symptoms requiring escalation
Compliance Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS
    • Mandatory training (Safeguarding, Moving & Handling, Medication, Infection Control)
    • Competency-based training (catheter care, bowel care, clinical observations)
    • Willingness to complete client-specific training prior to commencing
