The Education Network is working on behalf of one of our partnership schools recruit an SEND Teaching Assistant who will be available to start work in November. This is to fill a long-term role supporting a broad range of Special Educational Needs. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will therefore be comfortable working with pupils who have ASC, PMLD, SLD, SEMH, Downs Syndrome etc. and will be happy to support learning across various age groups.

The school maintains an excellent reputation in helping its pupils flourish in all aspects of learning, and are seeking an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant who will contribute to its positive ethos.
Ideal SEND Teaching Assistants will:
- Have recent and relevant experience in a similar role, ideally supporting children with Autism; we accept applicants with a background in mainstream education/nursing/care.
- Have experience of handling challenging behaviour effectively.
- Possess vital transferrable skills required to be able to support children with SEND, including patience, resilience, confidence, and a calm and nurturing approach.
- Be able to assist learning on a 1:1 or group basis – depending on the requirement.
- Possess an enhanced DBS certificate, or be willing to obtain one.
It is desirable (but not essential) that candidates have experience of:
- Team Teach
- PEG Feeding
- Epi Pen
- Moving and Handling
- Autism Awareness
- Personal Care
