Job Description

Senior Structural Engineer (Hybrid)

Are you looking for a senior structural engineering role that combines technical design with the opportunity to investigate, assess and improve existing buildings?

An established multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its collaborative engineering team. Working alongside architects, building surveyors and other specialist consultants, you will contribute to a wide range of projects including refurbishment, adaptation and new-build developments across multiple sectors.
This role offers a balance of structural design and technical advisory work, with a strong emphasis on existing buildings. You will play an important part in developing practical design solutions, investigating structural issues and supporting project teams with clear engineering advice from early feasibility through to delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Undertaking structural inspections, condition surveys and site investigations
    • Carrying out structural design for refurbishment, alterations and new-build projects
    • Developing structural solutions for strengthening, adaptation and remediation works
    • Leading intrusive investigations and opening-up works where required
    • Diagnosing structural defects and identifying root causes
    • Producing structural calculations, drawings and technical reports
    • Contributing to feasibility studies and early-stage design appraisals
    • Providing structural input to multidisciplinary design teams
    • Reviewing contractor and specialist structural proposals
    • Liaising with clients, architects and project teams to deliver coordinated design solutions
The role offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, combining structural design with investigation and advisory work on existing buildings.
You will be joining a collaborative consultancy environment where engineers play a key role in shaping practical, buildable and sustainable structural solutions.
