Housing Caretaker (manual drivers licence)
Location: East London
Rate: £19.70 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 7 Weeks
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
We are currently recruiting for a Housing Caretaker to join a busy in-house Caretaking Team maintaining council housing estates across East London.
This role would suit a hardworking, reliable, and physically fit individual with previous experience in caretaking, estate services, cleaning, or facilities maintenance. You will play a key role in ensuring communal areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained for residents.

This role would suit a hardworking, reliable, and physically fit individual with previous experience in caretaking, estate services, cleaning, or facilities maintenance. You will play a key role in ensuring communal areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained for residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain internal and external communal areas across housing estates.
- Sweep, mop, dust, and clean stairwells, corridors, entrances, and communal facilities.
- Carry out litter picking and ensure external areas remain tidy and presentable.
- Remove bulk waste and report fly-tipping where required.
- Sweep car parks, service roads, and estate pathways.
- Conduct routine inspections and identify health and safety concerns.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, fire safety, and building safety regulations.
- Work effectively as part of a small caretaking team to deliver a high-quality estate service.
- Previous experience in a professional caretaking, cleaning, estate services, or facilities role.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual duties throughout the working day.
- Strong understanding of health and safety responsibilities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, conscientious, and hardworking approach to work.
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence is essential.
- Candidates must attend on their first day wearing steel toe-capped boots and suitable workwear.
- The first day will include a short introduction and trial/assessment period.
- Immediate start available for suitable candidates.
