About the RoleWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to join a leading housing association based in Yeovil on a 6-month temporary contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled surveyor with experience in property maintenance, building inspections and housing repairs, ideally within a social housing or local authority environment.
You will be responsible for identifying property defects, providing technical advice, preparing schedules of works and overseeing repairs to ensure properties are maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct property inspections to identify building defects, maintenance issues and necessary repairs.
- Investigate housing disrepair cases and produce detailed technical reports.
- Prepare schedules of works and oversee minor and major repair projects.
- Provide technical advice to maintenance teams, contractors and internal departments.
- Manage contractors and monitor works to ensure quality, compliance and value for money.
- Support planned maintenance programmes and property condition assessments.
- Assist with Disabled Facilities Grant applications and associated property adaptations.
- Liaise with residents, contractors and stakeholders to resolve property-related issues.
- Ensure all works comply with relevant legislation, health and safety requirements and organisational procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, inspection reports and project documentation.
- Previous experience in building surveying, property maintenance or housing repairs.
- Experience working within social housing, housing associations or local authorities would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of building defects, disrepair and property maintenance.
- Experience preparing schedules of works and managing contractors.
- Relevant HNC, HND, degree or equivalent construction-related qualification.
- RICS membership would be advantageous.
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property maintenance systems.
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport, or the ability to travel efficiently between sites.
- Competitive salary of up to £50,369 per annum, depending on experience.
- 6-month temporary contract.
