Job Description

Toolroom Operative
Location: West Bromwich, West Midlands
Hours: 37 hours per week (Days)

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm (30-minute lunch break)

    • Friday: 7:30am – 12:30pm
      Salary: £33,566 per annum + Overtime + Bonus Scheme + Excellent Benefits

Toolroom Operative – West BromwichWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Toolroom Operative to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in West Bromwich, West Midlands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture new tooling components and carry out repairs and maintenance activities.

    • Operate Toolroom machinery and equipment to a high standard.

    • Conduct fault finding and breakdown support to minimise production downtime.

    • Support tooling try-outs and ensure project deadlines are achieved.

    • Work with CNC and manual machining equipment including:

      • Surface grinding

      • Milling

      • Turning

      • Fixturing

      • Wire EDM

    • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work to specified tolerances.

    • Operate a Forklift Truck and Overhead Crane (training provided where required).

    • Liaise with suppliers and contractors when additional support is needed.

    • Maintain high standards of health and safety, housekeeping, and compliance.

    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and business performance targets.

Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience within a Toolroom environment.

    • Strong background in press and shear tool manufacture, maintenance, and fault finding.

    • Experience with both CNC and conventional machining methods.

    • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

    • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

    • Self-motivated with strong organisational and time-management skills.

    • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.

    • Good communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.

    • Computer literate and capable of maintaining accurate records.

    • Willingness to learn new machining methods and technologies.

    • Eligibility to work in the UK is essential. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
