Heavy Plant & Telehandler Operator
Location: Corby, Northamptonshire
Salary: £14.00 – £15.00 per hour (Dependent on Experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Ongoing
About the Role
Pertemps is recruiting a skilled and versatile Heavy Plant & Telehandler Operator to join our established waste management client, Bailey’s Skip Hire, at their active recycling facility in Corby.
In this role, you will play a key part in daily yard operations. While the site utilises 3.5T Telehandler trucks for moving materials, you will also be regularly operating heavy machinery—specifically a 360-grab excavator and a Loading Shovel—to sort, load, and manage incoming waste.
Working Hours & Shift Patterns
This position offers excellent earning potential with generous weekly hours.
✅Monday to Friday: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
✅Saturdays: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Saturday frequency is negotiable (e.g., every Saturday or every other Saturday).
Key Responsibilities
✅Waste Handling: Safely operate a 360-grab to sort, stockpile, and feed various waste streams into processing equipment.
✅Yard Loading: Operate the Loading Shovel to move bulk materials and load bulkers or skips.
✅Telehandler Operation: Utilise the on-site 3.5T Telehandler trucks for transporting sorted materials and organising the yard safely.
✅Maintenance & Checks: Complete daily pre-start safety inspections and routine maintenance (greasing, fluid top-ups) on all operated machinery.
✅Health & Safety: Maintain strict adherence to site health and safety rules within a busy, high-volume waste environment.
Experience & Requirements (Essential)
Industry Experience: Proven track record working within the waste management or recycling industry.
✅Machinery Competency: Hands-on experience driving/operating a 360 Excavator, Loading Shovel, or JCB.
✅Licenses/Tickets: Relevant and valid plant cards (e.g., CPCS, NPORS) for 360 Excavator, Wheeled Loader, or Telehandler are highly advantageous.
✅Reliability: A strong work ethic and the physical stamina required to handle a 12-hour weekday shift pattern.
