Yard / Plant Operative (Rotating Weekly Shifts)

Location: Deeside
Hours: 40 hours per week, with overtime available (weekdays and weekends)
Pay Rate: £13.39 per hour + £10 shift allowance

Shift PatternThis position operates on a rotating weekly shift pattern:

• Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm
  
  
• Week 2: Monday to Friday, 2:00pm – 10:00pm
  
  

The OpportunityOur client is looking to recruit a reliable and hardworking Yard / Plant Operative to join their busy operation in Deeside. This is a varied, hands-on role that involves operating plant machinery, sorting recyclable materials, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and supporting the day-to-day running of the site.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience operating mobile plant machinery who enjoys working in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload containers and curtain-sided vehicles using a Forklift Truck.
  
  
• Operate mobile plant equipment such as a Loading Shovel, 360 Excavator and Bobcat (where appropriately licensed).
  
  
• Sort recyclable materials and remove non-conforming items from incoming loads.
  
  
• Carry out daily machinery inspections and complete plant check records.
  
  
• Rotate stock efficiently around the site.
  
  
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the yard and operational areas.
  
  
• Report any equipment faults, hazards or maintenance issues promptly.
  
  
• Work closely with the weighbridge team to support the movement of inbound and outbound materials.
  
  
• Follow all Health & Safety and Environmental procedures at all times.
  
  
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to support the operation.
  
  

What We're Looking ForEssential

• Previous experience working in a yard, recycling, waste management or industrial environment.
  
  
• Valid Forklift Truck licence.
  
  
• NPORS, CPCS or equivalent qualification to operate relevant mobile plant machinery and/or a Banksman qualification.
  
  
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
  
  
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  
  
• Reliable, hardworking and flexible with a positive attitude.
  
  

Desirable

• Experience operating Loading Shovels, 360 Excavators and/or Bobcats.
  
  
• Previous experience within the recycling or waste sector.
