Our client is a well-established, family-owned British business with a long-standing reputation within the manufacturing sector. As the organisation continues to develop, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior HR Advisor to join their team on a part-time basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and managers, providing pragmatic HR advice and taking ownership of a broad range of employee relations and people-related matters. The role will have a particular focus on supporting backshift and weekend operations, so flexibility and confidence working with a predominantly shift-based workforce are essential.

About the Role:
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, performance and capability matters.
- Advising managers on absence, occupational health referrals, reasonable adjustments and effective return-to-work processes.
- Supporting recruitment activity across shift operations, from workforce planning and candidate attraction through to interviews and onboarding.
- Working in partnership with managers to improve employee retention, engagement and overall workforce effectiveness.
- Supporting HR projects and initiatives designed to improve people processes and the employee experience.
- Providing guidance and support during formal hearings and helping senior managers reach appropriate, well-informed decisions.
- Overseeing key employee lifecycle processes, including probation reviews and exit interviews.
- Acting as the HR representative at operational, Tier 2 and senior management meetings.
- Reviewing and maintaining job descriptions and supporting changes to organisational structures where required.
- Advising managers on effective recruitment, selection and retention approaches.
- Using HR data and reporting to identify trends relating to turnover, engagement, absence and retention.
- Contributing to the review and development of HR policies, ensuring they remain aligned with current UK employment legislation.
- Supporting and promoting initiatives focused on employee engagement, wellbeing and a positive workplace culture.
This is a 20-hour-per-week part-time position, primarily supporting the client's backshift and weekend operations.
The working pattern is:
- Monday: 3.00pm – 7.00pm
- Tuesday – Thursday: 7.00pm – 11.00pm
- Saturday or Sunday: 4 hours, flexible between 8.00am and 6.00pm
- CIPD Level 5 qualification, or be actively working towards this.
- Previous experience in an HR Advisor or Senior HR Advisor position.
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment legislation and practical HR best practice.
- Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work with colleagues at all levels.
- A calm, professional and discreet approach when dealing with confidential or sensitive situations.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Good knowledge of HR policies, procedures and employee lifecycle processes.
- Experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office.
- A proactive approach to identifying opportunities to improve HR processes and ways of working.
- The resilience and professionalism required to operate effectively within a busy, shift-based environment.
