Back End Engineer (GoLang)
Location: Hybrid, Central London (1 day in the office every 2 weeks)
Salary: Circa £70,000 + Benefits

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications using GoLang.
- Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices that support core platform functionality.
- Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions.
- Optimise application performance, reliability and scalability.
- Troubleshoot, debug and resolve complex technical issues.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain automated testing solutions to ensure platform stability.
- Support deployment, monitoring and ongoing performance improvements across backend systems.
Required Experience
- Strong commercial experience developing applications in GoLang.
- Proven experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Experience designing and working within microservices-based architectures.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles and design patterns.
- Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Knowledge of gRPC and service-to-service communication.
- Experience with Git and modern version control practices.
- Experience working with containerisation technologies and deployment tools.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative engineering environment.
Desirable Experience
- Exposure to AI-assisted development, agentic engineering or specification-driven development.
- Experience operating applications within cloud-based environments.
- Knowledge of high-traffic, consumer-facing digital platforms.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
