Job Title: Machine and Forklift Operative

Type: Temporary to Permanent for the right candidate

Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00

Pay Rate: From £13.00 per hour PAYE via Pertemps

Start Date: ASAP

Our Client: A well‑established manufacturing/warehouse operation


Our client, based in Chatham, is seeking a reliable Machine and Forklift Operative to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis. The role involves operating machinery used to cut materials to specific measurements, alongside warehouse duties and forklift operation.


Machine and Forklift Operative Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation

  • Operate machinery used to cut materials to precise measurements.

  • Set up, adjust, and monitor machines to meet production requirements.

  • Carry out regular quality checks and ensure output accuracy.

  • Perform basic machine cleaning and troubleshooting.

  • Accurately record production information.


Forklift Operation


  • Safely operate a Counterbalance Forklift (must hold a valid external, in‑date certificate).

  • Reach Truck experience is an advantage.

  • Load/unload vehicles and move materials within warehouse and production areas.

  • Complete daily safety checks and follow all FLT procedures.


General Warehouse Duties


  • Assist with picking, packing, and general stock handling.

  • Receive, inspect, and store incoming goods.

  • Support stock counts and warehouse organisation.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and tidy work environment.



 Machine and Forklift Operative Skills & Experience Required:


  • Valid external Counterbalance Forklift Licence (in date).

  • Reach Truck experience or licence is beneficial.

  • Previous machine‑operating or warehouse experience.

  • Ability to work from precise measurements with strong attention to detail.

  • Good understanding of warehouse health & safety procedures.

  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling.

  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work well independently and as part of a team.
