Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with an established organisation in Central London to recruit a Service Charge Accountant to join its finance team.
 
This is a varied role offering the opportunity to take ownership of the commercial service charge accounting process while working closely with an experienced property management team. Alongside service charge budgets and year-end accounts, the role will provide exposure to management accounting, property information and insurance processes.
 
The position would suit an experienced finance professional with a background in service charge accounting, management accounts or property finance who enjoys working collaboratively and taking responsibility for their area of the business.
 
The Role
Working closely with the property management team, you will coordinate and prepare annual commercial service charge budgets and year-end accounts, ensuring processes are completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
 
Key responsibilities of the Service Charge Accountant will include:

• Prepare and manage service charge budgets, reconciliations and year-end accounts.
• Produce accurate management accounts and financial information within agreed deadlines.
• Maintain and review property and lease information, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
• Manage service charge accounting processes, including journals, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Assist with property-related financial matters and provide accurate information to relevant stakeholders.
• Manage insurance renewals, allocations and claims, ensuring costs are correctly recorded and allocated.
• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve queries and provide clear financial information.
• Support wider finance activities and contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial processes and reporting.

You may also be required to undertake other finance-related duties as appropriate to support the wider team.

About You
We are looking for someone with strong accounting experience and an interest in property finance. Previous experience preparing service charge budgets and accounts would be highly advantageous, although candidates with relevant management accounting experience will also be considered.
 
To succeed in this Service Charge Accountant position, you will ideally have:

• Experience preparing service charge budgets and accounts and/or management accounts.
• An accounting qualification, either part-qualified or fully qualified.
• Experience using accounting software and posting journals.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.
