Job Description
You will review, coordinate, and conflict check complex confined space entry works for the water and waste sides of the business. To help support the isolation and diversion of the water& waste process and networks. Work as part of the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing team, providing support to the wider operational teams and their contractors. Help produce and maintain the IAB dashboard and liaise with the operations teams and contractors.

What you’ll be doing as a Confined Space Authoriser
- Challenge the need for confined space entries in the first instance.
- Provide technical input to complex Water and Wastewater entry activities.
- Ensuring method statements and risk assessments are approved by the operational teams, completing a final review focused on the confined space entry elements.
- Review and audit safe systems of work for entry activities.
- Provide feedback to operations on how authorisations are achieved and managed.
- Ensure relevant teams/individuals are notified of upcoming works and get agreement from those impacted that the work can go ahead.
- Coordinate confined space activities to ensure activities do not impact other works.
- Facilitate regular communication between teams in the form of meetings,/conferences, calls/Briefings etc.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and future development of the safe entry processes.
- Help operational teams to build a tool to reduce or mitigate the need for confined space entry works.
- Build the knowledge and experience to become a confined space Subject Matter expert.

What you should bring to the role
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
- Excellent communicator with proven planning experience
- Technical understanding of the Water / Wastewater business with an existing knowledge of our networks or presses
- Strong customer focus with a self-starter attitude and a good understanding of H&S
- NEBOSH General Cert or be willing to train to achieve it
- Have confined space training or be willing to be trained to undertake confined space inspections
- Must have a full driving licence and be willing and able to travel to any site within the Thames Water region
- Competitive salary from £44,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Annual Leave - 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 with the length of service (plus bank holidays)
