Job Description
Thames Water: Who are we?
Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company. We make a daily difference to our 15 million customers by supplying 2.6 billion litres of water through 32,000 km of pipes, keeping taps flowing and toilets flushing. At Thames Water, every one of our actions, big and small, matters every day. Water is essential to life, so our business is always open, delivering life’s essential service.
About the role:
We are currently seeking an Office Technical Specialist to work out of our Slough Offices. This role is responsible for giving quality technical advice and guidance for the field teams, as well as making decisions regarding reactive works within Waste Networks across the whole of Thames Water. This role also supports the frontline teams when dealing with all incidents relating to our network and assets, ranging from severe pollutions, flooding, blockages, to manhole replacement and repairs.
Using the latest technology to assist in triaging each incident alongside their own knowledge to ensure that the best outcome is achieved. The OTS will also ensure that the correct work is completed and that the data collected is of the highest quality. The Office Technical Specialist function also ensures that the right checks and balances are in place for our money to be spent wisely.
The successful applicant will be at the heart of day-to-day operations with field teams calling for advice and guidance, ensuring the right work is raised at the right time and that our information and data are excellent. This is a chance to work as part of a high-performing team that is seen as a centre of excellence. You will not only be involved in the day-to-day work of Thames Water but will also be part of strategic projects that help shape the future of the business. The role will allow you to grow your knowledge and understanding of the waste industry whilst gaining insights into new and innovative technology and techniques being used.
This is a hybrid role; therefore, the successful candidate will work a mix of shifts from home and in the Customer Solutions Centre in Slough, alongside other teams in Thames Water and our Stakeholders. There will also be opportunities to work in the field offices to build relationships and knowledge alongside the field teams. The role is shift-based, and the shifts will include a mix of early, mid, late and weekend work.
