SEND Appeal Senior Practitioner - Nottingham 
Rate per day: £400 Per Day
Working Arrangements: Remote Working, full-Time 

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Appeal Senior Practitioner (SEND) to support a Local Authority with SEND Tribunal appeals and represent the council at First-tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability) hearings.
This is a key role for an experienced SEND professional with strong knowledge of SEND legislation, statutory processes, advocacy and dispute resolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on complex SEND Tribunal appeals, from initial response through to hearing.
    • Prepare high-quality, legally compliant Local Authority responses and evidence.
    • Represent the Local Authority at First-tier Tribunal hearings.
    • Manage appeal caseloads effectively, ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
    • Provide specialist advice on SEND legislation and statutory processes.
    • Review Tribunal outcomes and identify learning to support service improvement and best practice.
    • Work collaboratively with education, health, social care and legal colleagues to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.

  • Children and Families Act 2014
    • SEND Regulations
    • SEND Code of Practice
    • Equality Act 2010
    • Mental Capacity Act 2005
    • EHC assessment processes and statutory timescales
    • SEND Tribunal and dispute resolution processes
