About the Role
We are seeking a committed and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join a mixed gender secondary school in Greenwich, supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who require additional guidance, structure and encouragement to achieve their potential.
You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and SEN professionals to provide tailored classroom and behavioural support to pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
- Build positive relationships with pupils to promote engagement and trust.
- Support students in managing behaviour, emotions and social interactions.
- Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting learning activities.
- Encourage attendance, punctuality and participation in education.
- Help de-escalate challenging situations using calm and consistent approaches.
- Promote positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation.
- Support pupils during breaktimes, transitions and off-site activities where required.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, pastoral leads and external agencies.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with young people with SEMH, behavioural needs or additional needs.
- Background in schools, youth work, mentoring, coaching, care or residential settings welcomed.
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
- Calm, patient and resilient under pressure.
- Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) desirable.
- Team Teach / MAPA / de-escalation training advantageous but not essential.
