Behaviour Mentor – SEMH School (Immediate Start)
Are you a resilient and compassionate Behaviour Mentor looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people? Do you have experience supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours? This SEMH school in Walsall is looking to appoint a dedicated Behaviour Mentor for an immediate start.
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who face significant social, emotional and academic barriers. You will provide 1-2-1 mentoring, behaviour support and in-class assistance to help pupils regulate emotions, improve engagement and achieve positive outcomes within education.
This role requires someone who can build strong, positive relationships with young people while maintaining clear boundaries and consistent behaviour expectations. You will work alongside teachers, pastoral staff and support teams to create a safe, structured and supportive environment where pupils can thrive. Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviours or barriers to learning is essential. Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Mentor, Youth Worker or Residential Support Worker would be highly beneficial.

Job Role:
- Providing 1-2-1 and small group mentoring for students with SEMH needs
- Supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in lessons and around the school
- Building strong and trusting relationships with young people
- Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
- Helping students re-engage with learning and school life
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and external agencies
- Acting as a positive role model for students
- Monitoring and reporting on behaviour, wellbeing and progress
