Complex Needs SEN Teaching Assistant
Uxbridge, Hillingdon
Full-time, Term-time only
Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)
We are currently working with a well-established secondary SEN school in Uxbridge (Hillingdon) that is looking to appoint an experienced Complex Needs SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive and dedicated team.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a strong background in supporting students with highly complex needs, including ASD, PMLD, SLD, and associated medical and behavioural needs.
About the Role As a Complex Needs SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with significant learning difficulties and additional needs to access education in a safe and structured environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with complex needs
    • Assisting with personal care where required
    • Supporting students with communication needs (PECS, Makaton, etc.)
    • Implementing EHCP targets and individual learning plans
    • Managing behaviours positively using de-escalation techniques
    • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff

Requirements To be considered for this role, you must have:
  • Minimum 6 months’ experience working with children or young people with complex SEN needs
    • Experience supporting conditions such as ASD, PMLD, SLD, or physical disabilities
    • Confidence supporting personal care and mobility needs (desirable but often essential)
    • Strong behaviour management and emotional resilience
    • A calm, patient, and proactive approach
