Attendance & Safeguarding Officer
Location: Heston, Hounslow (TW5)
Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time + Inset Days
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Start Date: September 2026
About the Role We are seeking a highly organised and dedicated Attendance & Safeguarding Officer to join a friendly and committed primary school in Heston, Hounslow. This is a key role within the school, supporting pupil welfare, safeguarding, and attendance to ensure every child has the best opportunity to succeed.
You will play a vital part in promoting excellent attendance, maintaining safeguarding records, and working closely with staff, families, and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities Attendance
  • Monitor, track, and improve pupil attendance and punctuality across the school
    • Follow up on absences promptly, including first-day calling
    • Work closely with families to support improved attendance
    • Produce attendance reports and analyse data to identify trends
    • Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team, Education Welfare Officers, and external agencies
Safeguarding
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date safeguarding records using CPOMS
    • Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in all safeguarding matters
    • Record and track safeguarding concerns, ensuring appropriate follow-up
    • Assist with referrals to external safeguarding agencies where required
    • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures
Administration
  • Manage pupil data and records using SIMS
    • Support general school administration where required
    • Use Microsoft Office systems (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) confidently for reporting and communication
Person Specification Essential:
  • Previous experience in a school environment (primary preferred)
    • Strong working knowledge of SIMS and CPOMS
    • Confident user of Microsoft systems, including Excel and Outlook
    • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and confidentially
Desirable:
  • Experience in attendance management or pastoral support
    • Knowledge of local authority processes for attendance and safeguarding
    • Relevant safeguarding or pastoral qualifications/training
