How Representation and Inclusivity Makes Our Business Stronger

Posted 2 years ago •

Black History Month throws a spotlight on the invaluable contributions of black people to British society.

This is an annual celebration which ensures the spotlight picks out exceptional achievements and the benefits that a diverse population brings.

In the business world, corporations identified as more diverse and inclusive are 35 per cent more likely to out-perform their competitors. Diverse companies are 70 per cent more likely to capture new markets. Diverse teams are 87 per cent better at making decisions. Diverse management teams contribute to 19 per cent higher revenue.

We strive to ensure the organisation reflects the world we live in, with representation from all communities and cultures.

Equality of opportunity has always been something Pertemps has prided itself on, and we strive to ensure the organisation reflects the world we live in, with representation from all communities and cultures as the demographics of the working population continue to change. Doing more to empower and encourage young black people to aim high is one aspect of that representation.

Earlier this year, we launched our diversity, equality and inclusion commitments document, setting out where we are, and what we plan to do to ensure, as an organisation, we continually challenge ourselves to do in this area.

It has been put together by the organisation’s Employee Resource Group (ERG), something we committed to in our three-year strategy, to ensure all voices are heard and so the business has a clear forum for communication and to help ensure it remains a great place to work.

The document is a crystallisation of many different pockets of work and activity that have been going on at Pertemps for years. We have always put community at the heart of what we do, tried to create an inclusive and safe environment for all and know we are better for having a diverse and inclusive workforce.

We want our people at PNG, irrespective of background, identity or personal circumstances, to have a really great experience and a long and fruitful career with us. We want everyone to be their authentic self. We will ensure that today’s world is represented and reflecting in our business in a fair and equitable way.

Will ensure that today’s world is represented and reflected in an equitable way in our business.

Diversity is a fact. Inclusion is a choice.
