Pertemps Director Andy receives C&G Membership Award

Posted around 4 months ago •

Pertemps People Development Director Andy Long is one of just 19 people across the UK accepted into the City & Guilds as a new member for 2025.

Andy is a recipient of a Member Award after a thorough vetting process lasting several months and places him in an elite set of trainers.

Launched in 2024, the Membership Awards honour individuals who exemplify excellence, innovation and dedication in vocational education. The awards shine a light on the professionals who are quietly and consistently changing lives; the tutors and trainers who not only develop skills but build confidence and create opportunities for thousands of learners every year.

Andy, who has been with West Midlands-based Pertemps for 23 years, said: “Being awarded Membership of the City & Guilds Institute is a proud moment that reflects two decades of passion for helping people grow, lead and succeed through learning.

“It validates my belief that when training is engaging, inclusive and aligned to real-world outcomes, it can transform both people and performance."

Of the 19 awardees, Andy is one of 13 who work for an organisation that has previously achieved the prestigious Princess Royal Training Award, which is a testament to their ongoing dedication and commitment to excellence in training and development.

Chief Assessor Fenella Tallon was impressed by the quality of nominations. She said: “What stood out this year was each tutor and trainer’s passion and commitment in ensuring every learner has the opportunity to succeed regardless of whether they worked for a college, training provider or commercial organisation.

"Not only did they showcase their knowledge and high level of expertise, they also showed how they’re going above and beyond to make a real difference to their learners.”

Each recipient will receive Membership of the City & Guilds of London Institute (MCGI), a distinguished recognition only awarded to a select group of individuals each year. They will also be formally celebrated at a prestigious awards ceremony in London in 2026, alongside their nominators and peers.

Earlier this year, Pertemps Chair Carmen Watson was inducted as a fellow of the City and Guilds of London Institute, the highest honour the organisation can bestow.
