Leading recruitment specialist Pertemps has funded a state-of-the-art standing wheelchair for Manchester Arena bombing survivor and Spinal Injuries Association Vice President Martin Hibbert, supporting his continued work in advocacy and public speaking.
Martin Hibbert, who sustained life-changing spinal injuries in the 2017 Manchester Arena attack, has since become a powerful voice for the spinal injury community, dedicating his time to raising awareness, supporting others and championing accessibility through his role with the Spinal Injuries Association.
Through this work, Martin developed a relationship with Pertemps Lifetime President, Tim Watts, who wanted to support Martin’s future endeavours and help enhance his independence and mobility as his public speaking career continues to grow.
The specialist standing wheelchair will provide Martin with greater flexibility and physical support, enabling him to engage with audiences more comfortably and confidently while continuing his advocacy work across the UK and beyond.
Tim Jones, Head of Marketing and Sponsorship at Pertemps, who visited Martin, said; “Martin is an extraordinary individual whose resilience, positivity and commitment to helping others is truly inspiring.
“We are proud to support him with this standing wheelchair, which we hope will assist him in continuing his incredible work, both within the spinal injuries community and through his growing public speaking career.”
Talking about his future plans, Martin said; “Very much like what Tim Watts does, I’m setting up my own foundation.
“Looking after people, spinal cord injured, but that don’t have a route to compensation. Helping people but appropriate wheelchairs, or adapt their house, or get the rehab they need.
“Spinal cord injuries are life-changing but they don’t have to be life ending.”
