JOB DESCRIPTION

The Goods In Operative is responsible for efficiently managing the receipt and processing of incoming goods within a warehouse or distribution centre. The primary focus of this role is to ensure accurate verification, inspection, and storage of products while promptly updating inventory records.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements. Training is typically provided Off or on-the-job. NVQs/ in Warehousing and Storage are available at Levels 1, 2 and 3.

TASKS

  • Receives incoming goods and verifies shipment accuracy against packing lists or purchase orders..
  • Inspects goods for damage, discrepancies, or quality issues and reports any findings to supervisors..
  • Records received goods accurately in the inventory management system..
  • Organizes and stores products in designated warehouse locations and conducts regular stock checks..
  • Maintains detailed and accurate records of received goods, including batch numbers and expiration dates..
  • Generates and attaches labels to items as required..
  • Collaborates with warehouse staff and other departments to ensure efficient coordination of goods inwards..
  • Communicates effectively with suppliers to address any issues with deliveries..
  • Ensures that all received goods meet quality standards and works closely with the quality control team to address concerns..
  • Adheres to safety protocols and guidelines during the handling and storage of goods..
  • Reports any safety hazards or incidents promptly..
  • Utilizes equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks to move and store goods..
  • Conducts routine maintenance checks on equipment..
  • Maintains a clean and organized goods inwards area..
  • Disposes of packaging materials in an environmentally friendly manner..
