JOB DESCRIPTION

A Process Operator is responsible for overseeing and controlling various industrial processes within a manufacturing or production facility. This role involves monitoring equipment, adjusting settings, and ensuring that production processes run smoothly and efficiently.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements, though some employers may require GCSEs/S grades. Some employers may set dexterity and aptitude tests for entrants. Normal colour vision may be required for some posts. NVQs/SVQs at Levels 1, 2 and 3 are available in a variety of areas.

TASKS

  • Monitor and control industrial processes using control systems and equipment..
  • Keep a watchful eye on variables such as temperature, pressure, flow, and other parameters..
  • Operate and control machinery and equipment associated with the production process..
  • Conduct routine checks to ensure equipment is operating within specified parameters..
  • Make adjustments to process variables to maintain optimal operating conditions..
  • Respond promptly to deviations from standard operating conditions..
  • Monitor product quality during the production process..
  • Identify and address any issues related to product specifications..
  • Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines for all process operations..
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required..
  • Record and log data related to process parameters, adjustments made, and production quantities..
  • Complete required documentation for compliance and reporting..
  • Collaborate with team members, engineers, and other relevant personnel..
  • Communicate effectively to ensure a smooth workflow and production efficiency..
  • Troubleshoot issues with equipment or processes..
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel for complex repairs..
