JOB DESCRIPTION

A Factory Operative works in a manufacturing environment and is responsible for various tasks related to the production process. This role involves operating machinery, assembling products, performing quality checks, and maintaining a clean and organized work area to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the factory.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements. Training is typically provided Off or on-the-job. NVQs/ in Warehousing and Storage are available at Levels 1, 2 and 3.

TASKS

  • Operate manufacturing machinery and equipment as per standard operating procedures..
  • Monitor machines for proper functioning, making adjustments as necessary..
  • Assemble components or parts to create finished products..
  • Follow assembly instructions and adhere to quality standards..
  • Conduct regular quality checks on products to ensure they meet specified standards..
  • Identify and report defects or deviations from quality requirements..
  • Pack finished products into containers or boxes..
  • Affix labels, barcodes, or other identifying information as required..
  • Move raw materials, components, or finished products within the factory using manual or mechanical equipment..
  • Ensure proper storage and organization of materials..
  • Keep workstations, machinery, and the factory floor clean and organized..
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery and report any issues to supervisors..
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries..
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required..
  • Record production data, including quantities produced, defects, and any relevant information..
  • Complete production logs or reports as required..
  • Work collaboratively with team members, including machine operators, assemblers, and quality control personnel..
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues..
  • Address and resolve issues that may arise during the production process..
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or other concerns to supervisors..
