JOB DESCRIPTION

A Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly environment within residential or commercial spaces. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks to ensure a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere for occupants.

QUALIFICATIONS

No academic qualifications are required. On-the-job training may be provided. Vocational qualifications in Cleaning and Support Services Skills are available at Levels 1 and 2.

TASKS

  • Clean and sanitize rooms, including bedrooms, living rooms, and common areas..
  • Dust surfaces, polish furniture, and ensure a neat and organized appearance..
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all designated areas..
  • Clean and sanitize carpets and rugs as needed..
  • Clean kitchen surfaces, appliances, and countertops..
  • Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchenware..
  • Clean and sanitize bathroom fixtures, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors..
  • Refill dispensers with soap, tissue, and other restroom supplies..
  • Empty rubbish bins and replace liners..
  • Dispose of waste in designated receptacles following established procedures..
  • Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors to ensure a streak-free and clear appearance..
  • Wash, fold, and iron laundry as needed..
  • Ensure proper care of clothing and linens..
  • Make beds with clean and fresh linens..
  • Arrange pillows and cushions for an inviting appearance..
  • Dust surfaces, furniture, and fixtures to remove accumulated dust and cobwebs..
  • Arrange items and belongings in an orderly manner..
  • Maintain a clutter-free environment..
  • Respond to spills and accidents promptly..
  • Follow established protocols for handling specific cleaning situations..
  • Maintain and clean cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and mops..
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to supervisors..
  • Undertake special cleaning projects, such as deep cleaning or seasonal cleaning tasks..
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs observed during cleaning to supervisors..
  • Document completed tasks and report any issues that may require attention..
