JOB DESCRIPTION

A Warehouse Picker is responsible for accurately and efficiently selecting products from the warehouse inventory to fulfil customer orders. This role involves utilizing order lists or electronic systems to locate, pick, and prepare items for packing and shipping.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements. Training is typically provided Off or on-the-job. NVQs/ in Warehousing and Storage are available at Levels 1, 2 and 3.

TASKS

  • Review and understand customer orders to identify the products and quantities required..
  • Ensure accuracy in interpreting order details and specifications..
  • Utilize warehouse maps, pick lists, or electronic systems to locate products within the warehouse..
  • Navigate through the warehouse efficiently to minimize picking time..
  • Select the correct products from the shelves or designated storage areas..
  • Ensure that the picked items match the order specifications in terms of quantity and quality..
  • Conduct visual inspections of picked items to identify any damages or defects..
  • Report any discrepancies to supervisors or the quality control team..
  • Prepare picked items for packing, ensuring proper labelling and documentation..
  • Organize and consolidate items based on packing requirements..
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, supervisors, and order fulfilment teams..
  • Provide updates on order picking progress and any issues encountered..
  • Update inventory records in real-time to reflect the accurate status of picked items..
  • Collaborate with inventory control specialists to address any discrepancies..
  • Strive to meet or exceed daily and weekly picking targets..
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency..
