HR Advisor

Location: Kidlington, Oxford (with occasional travel to additional UK sites) Salary: £40,000 – £42,000 DOE Job Type: Full‑time, Permanent Hybrid: Some flexibility available, but not guaranteed

We’re supporting a fast‑paced foodservice and distribution organisation in the search for an experienced HR Advisor to join their growing People function. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HR generalist who thrives in operational environments and enjoys building strong relationships across multiple sites.

The successful candidate will deliver a proactive, professional and commercially focused HR service, supporting managers across a multisite operation and ensuring effective people practices, compliance, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate HR advice and guidance to managers on absence, grievance, disciplinary and general employee relations matters.

    • Support recruitment activity, including interviewing, coaching hiring managers, and ensuring fair, evidence‑based decision making.

    • Oversee onboarding, induction and probation processes to ensure a positive employee experience.

    • Advise on employment law, best practice and risk mitigation.

    • Support employee wellbeing initiatives and ensure policies are followed.

    • Assist with updating and implementing HR policies and procedures.

    • Maintain accurate HR data and produce reports on absence, turnover, recruitment and other KPIs.

    • Deliver development activities to support employee growth and satisfaction.

    • Contribute to wider HR projects and organisational change initiatives.

Person Specification

  • CIPD Level 3 (minimum).

    • Proven HR generalist experience within foodservice, warehouse, wholesale or distribution environments.

    • Strong background managing employee relations, recruitment and performance processes.

    • Confident influencing and coaching line managers.

    • Pragmatic, solutions‑focused and able to work at pace.

    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage at all levels.

    • Positive, approachable and able to build strong relationships.

    • Full UK driving licence – travel to other sites will be required.

  • Based primarily in Kidlington, with occasional travel to other UK sites.
