Salary: £44,000 basic + 7.3% additional hours payment = £47,212 total annual earnings + Bonus
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join a well-established manufacturing operation in Newport. Working within a highly regulated industrial environment, you'll play a key role in maintaining plant reliability, supporting production and ensuring the safe operation of electrical and instrumentation systems across the site.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join a well-established manufacturing operation in Newport. Working within a highly regulated industrial environment, you'll play a key role in maintaining plant reliability, supporting production and ensuring the safe operation of electrical and instrumentation systems across the site.
The Role
Reporting to the E&I Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to plant breakdowns and carrying out fault diagnosis on electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Installation, maintenance and repair of 415V AC motors and associated control equipment.
- Installing, commissioning and maintaining control, safety and measurement systems.
- Maintaining instrumentation including pressure, temperature and level measurement devices.
- Carrying out calibration activities and maintaining accurate records in line with site procedures.
- Maintenance of hazardous area equipment in accordance with DSEAR regulations.
- General electrical installation work including lighting, cable containment and distribution systems.
- Supporting preventative maintenance programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Updating maintenance records and equipment history using SAP.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A time-served apprenticeship or recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or a related discipline.
- Experience working within manufacturing, process, chemical, pharmaceutical, food, energy or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills with a structured approach to root cause analysis.
- Experience maintaining electrical, control and instrumentation systems.
- Knowledge of hazardous area equipment and industrial safety standards.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider maintenance team.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work effectively.
Experience with SAP, Beamex CMX and technical drawing management systems would be advantageous.
