Mechanical Engineer
Location: Oswestry
Contract Length: Temp to Perm
Pay: £15-16 an hour

Position Summary
Working under general supervision to complete Pre-Delivery Inspections, examinations, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and both minor and major maintenance on a range of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms, including vertical masts, scissor lifts, telescopic booms, and articulating booms.

Responsibilities of a Mechanical Engineer

• Inspect major components across a variety of equipment, replacing parts as required.
• Complete daily reports and ensure all paperwork is accurate.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
• Carry out warranty repairs.
• Provide technical support to customers and workshop personnel, including training where required.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Mechanical or electrical engineering certification or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of hydraulics and electrical systems.
• IPAF 3a/3b, LOLER, FLT or other access-industry certifications (desirable).

Desired Experience of a Mechanical Engineer

• 2–4 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience with aerial work platforms preferred but not essential.
• Ability to understand electrical and hydraulic circuits/schematics.
• Strong mechanical knowledge
• Relevant product knowledge advantageous.
• Strong technical communication skills.
• Ability to support end users with service and repair tasks.
• Able to work independently, highly organised, and motivated.
