Strategic Buyer - Transport Procurement Focus
Location: Birmingham
Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum (DOE)

Are you a procurement expert with a deep understanding of transport operations and supply chain management? Are you commercially minded, confident managing high-value suppliers, and ready to influence procurement strategy in a large-scale operation?

Pertemps are working in partnership with a forward-thinking organisation to recruit a Strategic Buyer with a strong background in transport procurement. This is a key hire for the business, offering the opportunity to shape supplier strategy and deliver long-term value in a critical spend category.

Capex procurement experience is not essential - training and development will be provided. What matters most is your strategic approach, stakeholder engagement skills, and proven success in managing complex transport and logistics categories.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead procurement activities within the Transport category, including supplier sourcing, negotiations, and contract management.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement strategic sourcing plans aligned with business goals.
• Support Capex procurement projects (training provided) and contribute to cross-functional procurement initiatives.
• Drive cost savings, service improvements, and supplier performance across key areas.
• Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify innovation and value opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and regulatory requirements.
• Manage RFQs, tender processes, and supplier onboarding.

What We're Looking For:

• Demonstrable experience in transport, logistics, or supply chain procurement at a strategic level.
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
• Confidence managing stakeholder relationships and influencing at all levels.
• Highly organised, analytical, and comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously.
• ERP system experience and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred.
• CIPS qualification (or studying towards) is desirable.
