This hands-on role will focus on product inspection, dimensional measurement, testing and technical quality support. You will help ensure that products meet agreed drawings, specifications and acceptance criteria, while maintaining accurate technical records and supporting the investigation of quality issues.

The successful candidate will be methodical, technically minded and comfortable working independently, with the ability to identify discrepancies, record findings accurately and communicate technical information clearly.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Inspection

  • Carry out incoming, in-process and final inspections of wheels, tyres and assemblies in line with inspection plans and visual acceptance criteria.

    • Measure key product features, including dimensions, offsets, centre bores and fixing patterns, using appropriate measuring equipment.

    • Verify product condition, identification markings, date codes and batch details to maintain full traceability.

    • Identify and record non-conforming or suspect products, following established quality procedures and escalating issues to the Quality Manager.

Measurement & Testing

  • Complete periodic Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) checks and internal and external testing on priority product lines.

    • Compare inspection and test results against approved specifications, identifying missing tolerances, unclear requirements or inconsistent measurements.

    • Ensure measuring equipment is suitable for the task, in good working condition and within its calibration or verification requirements.

    • Maintain accurate and repeatable measurement records to support product conformity and quality assurance.

Quality Investigations

  • Inspect returned or suspect products and gather measurements, photographs, videos and test results to support root cause investigations.

    • Complete assigned investigation and verification activities relating to Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and 8D corrective action reports.

    • Verify whether corrective actions have effectively addressed identified quality issues.

    • Provide clear, factual findings to the Quality Manager and escalate matters requiring specialist engineering input or further testing.

Technical Documentation & Support

  • Maintain the technical database, ensuring drawings, specification sheets, test certificates and other technical documentation are accurate, current and readily accessible.

    • Maintain inspection reports, test records and technical information with clear links to product codes, batch details and relevant drawings.

    • Review supplier drawings, certificates and sample measurements against agreed requirements, highlighting any discrepancies.

    • Support Sales, Purchasing and customer-facing teams with product information and routine technical queries.

    • Assist with sample inspections for new or modified products and prepare samples for independent testing.

    • Help develop practical inspection instructions and visual acceptance criteria, demonstrating agreed inspection methods to colleagues.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A relevant mechanical or automotive qualification, or equivalent practical experience.

    • Hands-on experience in quality inspection, mechanical engineering, component testing or a similar technical role.

    • Experience with wheels and tyres, ideally within trailer, agricultural, off-highway or industrial applications.

    • The ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand dimensions, tolerances and inspection requirements.

    • Confidence using handheld measuring equipment and recording accurate, repeatable results.

    • A methodical and observant approach, with strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills.

    • The ability to manage assigned tasks independently, maintain clear technical records and communicate findings effectively.

    • A proactive approach to identifying quality concerns and escalating issues when necessary.

Working Hours & Benefits

  • Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 08:15–17:00; Friday, 08:15–13:45.

    • Annual leave: 23 days per year.

    • Pension: Auto-enrolment pension scheme with a 5% employer contribution.

    • Life assurance: Cover equivalent to four times annual basic salary.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded individual with practical inspection and measurement experience to join a specialist engineering and product quality environment. You will play an important role in maintaining product standards, supporting continuous improvement and ensuring accurate technical information is available across the business.
