A fantastic opportunity is available for a Residence Assistant to work for a student accommodation in Birmingham

This is a live-in position and the post holder is expected to live within the accommodation for the duration of the 45 weeks to effectively become an integral part of the daily lives of the students with the focus on student engagement and community feel within the site. you will work 7 days on and 7 days off.

Main duties and Responsibilities
-To arrange the daily meal plan provisions and ensuring that accurate records are kept and food safety and hygiene standards are maintained.
-Offer support and guidance to all residents, promote resident welfare & enforce behaviour policies and to be a part of the out-of-hours emergency response rota.
-Provide cover when Colleagues are away on leave or through illness.
-Attend regular meetings with the onsite and head office teams to share any concerns and information is frequently shared.
-Any other reasonable duty as requested by the onsite team or Head office
-Participate in Welcome and induction activities

Student Welfare
-Conduct morning and evening welfare checks as well as wake up calls in residence to ensure the students are awake in time for their classes.
-To ensure that if needed Appropriate guardianship services/ parents are contacted with regarding any pastoral or medical or welfare issues whilst conducting morning checks - and ensure these are followed up or escalated efficiently.
-Also to assist & supervise residents during study sessions & guided learning, meal times, and curfew.
-Regularly interact with student in-house and in college to increase attendance to enrichment activities arranged by MPW
-To help deliver the enrichment calendar of events and activities throughout the year when needed.
-Always provide excellent customer service , going the extra mile
Participate when needed in marketing activities including viewings and promotional aspects
-To participate and complete all necessary training in the training week in August and ongoing online training as requested by line management.
-When necessary assist in the administration of the residence including room inspection, student arrivals, departures and room inventories.
-Maintain resident files to a high degree of accuracy including records of behaviour, punishment, rewards, medical history, medical assistance given, etc.
Shifts

A typical rota is one week on one week off working 7 days.
N.B You will be required to work at the college on an ad hoc basis promoting MPW enrichment activities as part of your duties.
Daily routine guide
Weekdays
7am - 9 am
Set up and supervise breakfast and perform wake up and welfare checks for students and relaying any sickness to then be reported to their personal tutor and assist in making any relevant medical appointments or contacting their Guardian.
6pm - 10pm
Overseeing the evening meal plan delivery.
Checking signing in and out book, assist in the management of the additional services on site and participating and engaging in enrichment activities.
Weekend
9am - 11am

6pm - Midnight
Perform Room inspections. Check sign in sheet and chase those that are missing. Enforce missing resident policy for late/missing residents. Once all residents are accounted for ensure that common rooms are clean and tidy and lock them as appropriate. Check other common rooms and communal out-of-bounds areas.
Work in student accommodation is by its nature disparate. Staff may not speak to each other daily and outside of formal meetings. To this end it is essential that on site staff regularly check for work emails and respond to House parents promptly. If there have been any issues raised during shifts Resident Assistants should continue to monitor for further email communication and look to update staff promptly so informed and timely actions can be made.

Checks and Training
-Resident Assistant staff require, or will receive, the following training/security checks:
-Enhanced DBS Checks to prove their suitability to work with children in and out of the home environment.
-Two written references from previous employers asking for suitability for the role.
-Access to online training CPD certified and also bespoke in house training between 27th August to 30 August 2018
-Full employment history with any significant gaps explained, previous employers may be contacted.
-Sufficient proof must be held of any relevant qualifications.
