Network Operations Manager

South West | Full-time, Permanent | Monday - Friday, 08:45 - 17:30

We're recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing UK retailer with an extensive distribution network and over 200 stores nationwide. With continued growth and major investment in people and operations, this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Network Operations Manager to join the team and make a real impact.

The Role

As Network Operations Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in driving performance across nationwide Distribution Centres and 3PL partners. Acting as the bridge between supply chain, transport, and operational teams, you'll be responsible for optimising processes, delivering continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring the network is running at peak efficiency.

You'll be leading operational performance reviews, introducing lean process improvements, and influencing stakeholders at all levels - from senior leadership to on-the-ground teams. This role will be based at one of the Distribution Centres within the South West with occasional travel to other DCs and Head Office as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead performance reviews across internal teams and 3PL partners.
  • Develop and implement performance scorecards across safety, cost, people, quality, and customer service.
  • Own budget control initiatives, eliminating inefficiencies and raising standards.
  • Refine planning cycles to optimise capacity and flow of stock through the network.
  • Manage peak trading and seasonal activity (e.g., store openings, promotional launches).
  • Deploy lean operational processes across DC and 3PL environments
  • Analyse operational data, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across a matrix organisation, ensuring accountability for deliverables.

About You

We're looking for a highly motivated leader with strong stakeholder management skills and a proven track record in operational performance management.

Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Significant experience in operational performance management, ideally within a 3PL environment.
  • Strong knowledge of lean operations and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, and visual.
  • Organisational skills to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience working in a customer-focused supply chain.
  • Resilient self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset.
  • Proven ability to influence and lead senior stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of WMS processes and systems.
  • Flexibility to travel nationwide, including overnight stays where required.

Desirable Skills (not essential):
  • Retail or multi-channel network experience.
  • Exposure to warehouse/transport automation or robotics.
  • P&L responsibility.
  • Network design/warehouse layout modelling experience.
  • Six Sigma certification
