We are seeking an experienced Technical & Quality Manager to lead metallurgical, process control, and quality assurance activities within a steel foundry environment.
This role requires a strong background in steel metallurgy, casting methoding, and defect reduction, combined with the ability to implement robust quality systems and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across melting, moulding, pouring, fettling, and inspection
- Review and interpret customer specifications, drawings, and standards
- Advise on metallurgy, raw materials, melting practices, and heat treatment
- Develop and optimise casting methoding (feeding & gating design)
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA, 8D) for defects, scrap, and process variation
- Manage non-conformance, corrective actions, and customer complaints
- Maintain traceability, calibration systems, and technical documentation
- Monitor KPIs including scrap, yield, rework, and right-first-time
Requirements
- Strong experience in steel foundry operations and metallurgy
- In-depth knowledge of casting defects, methoding, and process control
- Proven track record of scrap reduction and yield improvement
- Experience working within ISO 9001 / IATF / AS9100 frameworks
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
Desirable
- Metallurgy / Materials / Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
- Knowledge of NDT and destructive testing methods
- Experience with customer and supplier audits
