π¬ Laboratory Shift Technician β Metals Manufacturing
π Aston, Birmingham
π° Β£34,500 + Shift Allowance
π Rotating Shifts (6amβ2pm / 2pmβ10pm / 10pmβ6am)
Are you an experienced Laboratory Technician with a background in metals, foundry, steel, aluminium, copper, brass, or industrial manufacturing?
We are seeking a Laboratory Shift Technician to join a well-established manufacturing operation, supporting quality assurance, materials testing, and process control within a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
β Mechanical and metallurgical testing including hardness, tensile, bend and grain size analysis
β Spectrographic chemical analysis and verification of material composition
β Inspection and testing of incoming raw materials and scrap
β Calibration and verification of laboratory equipment
β Monitoring and analysis of process solutions, acids and treatment tanks
β Preparation of Certificates of Conformity and quality documentation
β Macro and microstructural examination of metal products
What We're Looking For:
β Laboratory, quality control, or metallurgical testing experience within a manufacturing environment
β Knowledge of mechanical and chemical testing methods
β Experience working with metal products, alloys, castings, extrusions or engineered materials
β Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
β Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Additional Responsibility:
The successful candidate will occasionally provide operational cover during nights and weekends, ensuring production, quality, safety and staffing requirements are maintained.
