The Opportunity:

We are looking for a skilled CNC Machinist to join a highly skilled, multi-functional team within a well-established engineering business. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for producing high-quality components for Assembly, Aftermarket, and Spares requirements, working with both medium and large-scale parts.
This CNC Machinist role offers the chance to develop your technical skills, work with advanced machinery, including Waldrich Coburg grinders, and contribute to a quality-driven, collaborative environment. The role is on-site and provides long-term stability, a supportive team, and genuine opportunities for professional growth and development.
 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate medium to large surface grinders, including Waldrich Coburg machines with Siemens 840D control
    • Produce complex components to drawing specifications, ranging from 25kg up to 12,000kg
    • Interpret engineering drawings and ensure components meet critical tolerances
    • Set components, composite grinding wheels, jigs, and fixtures
    • Apply knowledge of materials and machining methods to optimise productivity
    • Work independently, plan workloads, and meet production targets
    • Maintain a ‘Right First Time’ mindset in a quality-driven environment
    • Comply with health and safety standards at all times
    • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested
 
What we’re looking for:
  • Time-served apprenticeship in machining or equivalent
    • Experience operating medium to large surface grinders (training provided if needed)
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately
    • Skilled in using measuring equipment to ensure product conformity
    • Experience producing components to tight geometrical tolerances
    • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail
    • Reliable, diligent, and able to work both independently and in a team
    • Problem-solving skills and adaptability to learn new techniques and machines
    • Strong communication and organisational skills
    • Flexibility to work different shifts, overtime, and meet production needs
