Job Description

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business for a Lab QA Technician to join their site in Tadcaster. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with laboratory and quality assurance experience to contribute to product quality, process control, and compliance within a fast-paced production environment.

The role would suit a candidate with a background in laboratory testing, quality systems, and continuous improvement who enjoys working closely with operational teams to maintain high standards and deliver right-first-time quality.

Your Purpose

As a Lab QA Technician, you will support quality assurance and process excellence across site operations. You will be responsible for laboratory testing, monitoring quality standards, and overseeing yeast systems to help prevent defects and support right-first-time performance. You will also promote high standards of hygiene, reliability, and compliance while coaching operational teams on QA and OPQC requirements.

This is a shift-based role, working across 6am–2pm, 8am–4pm, and 2pm–10pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out laboratory testing, including physical chemistry and microbiological analysis, in line with SOPs and quality standards.

    • Maintain and improve SOPs, while training Process Technicians on quality and OPQC requirements to support defect prevention and right-first-time quality.

    • Take ownership of laboratory and yeast propagation processes, ensuring consistency from lab scale through to production.

    • Maintain laboratory and yeast plant equipment, including calibration, validation, hygiene, and the escalation of any reliability risks.

    • Champion hygiene, safety, and compliance standards, including HACCP, COSHH, BRC, and FEMAS, and act promptly on any deviations.

    • Support problem-solving and continuous improvement through data analysis, SPC, and root cause investigation to reduce quality issues.

About You

  • Hands-on experience in laboratory testing, including physical chemistry and microbiological analysis.

    • Previous experience in a lab QA, laboratory technician, or quality assurance role within manufacturing, food, beverage, or another regulated environment.

    • A good understanding of SOPs, quality systems, and compliance standards.

    • Strong analytical skills, including SPC, trend analysis, and root cause investigation.

    • The ability to coach, train, and influence colleagues to maintain high quality standards and best practice.

If you have experience in lab QA, laboratory quality assurance, or quality control and are ready for your next challenge, we’d love to hear from you.
