Our client, a highly respected Higher Education establishment based in Paisley, require a Catering Supervisor on a temporary basis. The salary for the position is £12.69 per hour. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm.
A PVG for working with Children issued within the last 12 months is a pre-requisite for this role and applicant must be willing to apply for a scheme update for this.
Main purpose of role:
To support the Campus Catering Manager in planning, organising and providing high-quality catering services to the users of the service in accordance with all food hygiene, health and safety and other legislation; to maintain effective control systems and records of stock to meet accounting and audit requirements; and to assist in the management of the campus catering staff team on a day-to-day basis.
To work with the Campus Catering Manager to ensure that there is a unified college and cost effective campus based catering service.
To organise and supervises food preparation and service, ensuring that at all times the catering services are operated in full accordance with all relevant food hygiene and health and safety legislation.
To prepare staff rotas.
To agree weekly, any special event menus compiled with the Campus Catering Manager with due regard to food cost allowances and budgetary parameters set by the Campus Catering Manager.
To support the Campus Catering Manager in carrying out food safety risk assessments; implements and reviews regularly, the food safety management system with effective controls, at identified critical points and throughout the food handling processes.
To support the Campus Catering Manager in ensuring that all catering staff, are adequately trained to perform their duties to the required standard and ensures that each member of staff is fully aware of their individual responsibilities under food hygiene and health and safety legislation.
To maintain and rotate appropriate stock levels of consumable and non-consumable items necessary in providing the catering services and to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene at all times.
To assist in the appropriate training of catering staff as required according to the requirements of theoretical and practical elements of their training courses.
To assist in periodic review meetings to ensure that the catering services are fully meeting the requirements of the users. To modify and adjusts the services as necessary. To put forward positive suggestions to enhance and/or improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the services.
1To contribute to the security of the campus by adhering to the correct opening and closing procedures and the secure holding of the relevant keys.
To carry out monthly stock-take of provisions and other key items.
To assist with the preparation of cooked meals, snacks etc. when required
To assist with the serving of customers when required.
To ensure that all equipment and facilities are maintained to good order.
Key Skills and Requirements:
PVG for working with Children
Qualified to SCQF level 7 (in catering related qualification)
Experience in a commercial catering environment
Excellent customer service experience
Experience in cash handling in a commercial environment
Experience in the supervision of staff
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Legislation
Good numerical skills
